A Sound Healing Forward 60 Minute Retreat in Newmarket, Ontario

This past weekend, I expanded the Sunday Reset into something that aligns more with my life’s purpose and my dreams.

While sound healing is a beautiful modality in and of itself, restoring balance to not only your nervous system, your physical body and your energy, I’ve always wanted The Sunday Reset to be more, to offer deeper transformations for people.

The Sunday Reset Mini Retreat was my first expansion into doing that.

Starting The Sunday Reset with intuitive guidance

We started with a welcome message and an intuitive card pull.

I believe that when we are aligned with our intuition, we can get supportive messages from spirit.

I’ve been focusing recently on connecting with my intuition every single day, multiple times a day, through resetting. And that has really helped me become better at reading oracle cards.

The cards I used in this session were from The Universe Has Your Back deck by Gabrielle Bernstein. I have several decks that I choose between to use at my sessions.

The beautiful thing is, the message we received was so perfect for the theme of this event, which was to literally:

  • Let go of the things that are not serving you.

  • Let go of the things that are holding you back from living your dream life.

  • Reset your energy and return to centre (your centre being your intuition, your life purpose, the reason you came to this earth this lifetime.)

The card we pulled said:

There is nothing sexier than my authentic truth.

And I feel like that resonates so much with this retreat, because the whole thing we’re trying to do is:

  • Cut away the noise that we’ve picked up in our lifetime.

  • The things that have brainwashed us and caused us to become the person we are, and in some cases disconnected us from our soul and our intuition.

When we can shed those layers at an event like this, we can connect deeper with our authenticity.

By releasing these layers, aligning your energy and coming back to yourself, coming back to your centre, you’re coming back to your authenticity.

If you want to live the life of your dreams, manifest your dreams, and live a life of meaning and purpose, I believe it’s important to do practices like this so you can cut away the layers that are not actually yours.

The things you picked up that you didn’t cosign on. Which is totally okay. That’s part of life’s journey. So we can come back to our authentic truth.

This card was so perfect for this.

I couldn’t have even picked it.

Thank you, spirit.

Setting our personal intentions with tea

Then we moved into a tea ceremony.

The card pull was a collective reading and collective intention for the session.

The tea ceremony was our personal intention for the Reset Ritual.

I served caffeine-free lemon ginger tea by Stash with organic honey.

But really, any liquid will do for this.

I believe water holds energy, frequency and vibration. When we speak our intentions into the liquid and then drink it, we’re bringing that intention into ourselves while we go through the rest of the mini retreat.

I pre-brewed the tea and brought it in a carafe.

We individually spoke our intention into our drink.

And then we drank it.

Reflecting on what we wanted to let go of

Then we moved into grounding and guided breathing while I played my hand drum rhythmically.

I guided us into reflecting on what’s going on in our lives.

  • What’s happening that maybe we don’t want anymore?

  • What is causing us dis-ease?

  • What is disrupting us from our purpose or our soul?

  • Or what is simply something we just don’t prefer anymore?

We reflected on our past week, our past month, our past year, or our life.

It’s an individual journey.

You get to go as deep or as far as you want.

When we came out of that, each participant was given a piece of paper and a pencil and wrote down one thing they wanted to let go of.

Then, ceremoniously, we ripped up that paper and sprinkled the pieces into an alchemy bowl.

The letting-go alchemy bowl

That morning, I had gone out and picked wildflowers that were in alignment with the theme and energy of the letting-go ceremony.

The alchemy bowl contained:

  • Black-eyed Susans, which symbolize hope, resilience, optimism and finding light after difficult times.

  • Daisy fleabane, which symbolizes renewal, resilience, fresh starts and gentle transformation.

  • Garden phlox, which symbolizes harmony, unity, heartfelt connection and sweet dreams.

  • And wild bergamot, which symbolizes healing, balance, peace and heart-centred connection.

I offered the extra flowers to the participants when they left so they could take some of that energy home with them.

We sprinkled our release papers into the bowl, and as we went about the rest of the mini retreat, the water could alchemize our worries and dissolve them.

After the session, I strained the flowers and paper pulp out of the bowl and gave them to Mother Earth to alchemize into new growth.

Connecting with your future self

After the release ritual, we moved into the connection phase through my signature Sovereign Self Meditation.

At this point in the mini retreat you’ve

  • Set your personal intention.

  • We have our collective intention.

  • You’ve reflected on what’s happening in your life.

  • You’ve let go.

And now we connect with your future self.

My Sovereign Self Meditation came to me in an out-of-body experience.

It showed me that there are six layers of our human existence, and I believe it’s important to recognize and create a relationship with all six layers in order to have harmony and balance, align with your dreams, align with your intuition, align with your purpose, and connect with yourself deeper than you ever have before.

The six layers are:

Body.
Mind.
Emotions.
Soul.
Energy.
Connection to Source.

I guided everyone through a quick version of that meditation so we could connect with all six parts.

Then I guided everyone through a visualization of seeing their future self on a path, walking towards them and having a conversation with them.

I invited them to ask:

What is something you’ve done that I can do now to help me get to where you are?

We had some time to sit with that while I played my three-bar chime.

And then I flowed directly into the sound bath.

A 40-minute sound bath

The sound bath lasted about 40 minutes of the total 60 minute experience.

I played a variety of instruments: singing bowls, a crystal bowl, Tibetan bowls, my tongue drum, ocean drum, shaker and two Koshi chimes.

It’s very slow.

Very healing.

Very relaxing.

Most participants fell asleep.

And that’s fine.

It puts you into this state of rest and repair, and you’re already in this state of alignment from the meditation before.

So the sound bath takes you deeper into that state.

Why every sound bath I offer is different

The instruments I choose for the sound bath are intuitively led as well.

I choose them based on the energy in the room and the energy that I’m feeling.

I bring all of my instruments to every sound bath so that I can choose in the moment because energy changes moment to moment.

It is not something I can pre-plan.

I like to play off the energy in the room specifically because that’s what I feel is going to be soothing to the people in the room.

Sometimes someone can have an emotional reaction to a certain instrument.

I believe things come up when we are ready to process them or begin letting them go.

And it’s okay to cry or shake or move or get up and walk.

If it’s too much for you to handle, it’s absolutely okay to excuse yourself.

Maybe something is meant to show up in your life four, five or six times before you’re actually ready to process it and let it go.

And that’s okay.

That’s part of the process.

That’s how I choose the instruments that I play, and it makes every single experience different because I’m choosing in the moment.

Closing the Sunday Reset

To close out the session, I read a passage from a book that I use at every single Sunday Reset: Journey to the Heart by Melody Beattie.

It’s a book of daily meditations on the path to freeing your soul.

I actually found this book when I was at a yoga class.

The yoga instructor read a passage from it at the end of class and it resonated with me so deeply that I remembered what the book was, went out and bought it for myself, and I’m so grateful that I have it.

It is such a beautiful way to close out my Sunday Reset.

I randomly open the book to a passage. I don’t pre-plan it. The same way I don’t pre-plan the cards or the instruments. It all comes through authentically.

This time, I opened the book to the November 22 passage:

Open up to who you are.

And essentially, it bookended the entire theme of authenticity.

We started with:

There is nothing sexier than my authentic truth.

And ended with:

Open up to who you are.

Being who you are fully, authentically and unapologetically.

I really feel like that was exactly the message we were going for in this session and exactly the energy we were trying to align with.

And it worked out so beautifully.

Taking some of the Sunday Reset home

At the end of the session, I gave each participant a little envelope with goodies to take home.

It was an origami envelope that I folded myself. I like to fold them with positive intentions so that vibe comes with you.

Inside, I gave everyone a tea bag so they could have another intention-setting session for themselves at home.

I also gave everyone an intuitive affirmation, message, pep talk or prompt.

I write them out randomly and colour them intuitively. Certain colours can resonate with you. The message might resonate with you.

And then you can take that with you throughout the week and hopefully come back to the experience.

Participants also get the replay for four weeks.

So if you ever need to come back to it, you can duplicate the process at home using the tools from the little goody bag.
